Pilot Research Projects (PRPs) will allow a group from the UK to either visit another national or international research group, or to bring the expertise from that lab to them. The aim of this scheme is to kickstart a collaboration that will result in successful publications or grant applications, and/or to enable knowledge transfer.

PRPs will normally involve two parties, one of which should be based in the UK. The main purpose is to help seed a research collaboration that would benefit from an in-person visit, be that to conduct lab work or to engage in knowledge transfer. The anticipated outcomes could include either a joint publication, or a grant application based on the data that this scheme has helped to obtain.
