Focus Workshops (FWs) are fully funded one day meetings designed to drill down into a more specialised topic suggested by Network members. The topic would normally fall into one of the three themes and if successful would be organised by the proposing institute with help from the Network and the relevant theme leader.
Focus Workshops are one day meetings and can be in any area of the foldamer field. There is no real restriction on the topic – they can fall into any or more than one of the three themes – and are intended to allow network members to meet and concentrate on a research area of interest. This could be as broad a topic as peptidomimetic foldamers, or aptamers with secondary structure, for example – to even more specific areas (e.g. metallofoldamers or morpholino structure). We imagine these would suit a small meeting (up to 20 academics), but the style and format is up to the applicant, as long as it is within budget (£4,500).
To apply for this opportunity, you must be a member of the foldamer network (select “Join Network” above), and work within the UK. FWs must be held in the UK (either in academia or industry). Note that awards are made of up to £4,500.
Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed in cycles. To be considered in the next review round please submit your application by 1 December 2025, 11:59 GMT. Funding decisions for this round will be communicated in January 2026.
